Summary

A manor built in 1872 by a Count Teleki in Glodeni (Mureș County), used for decades as a care centre for people with disabilities. A plan has been reported to return manor and park to the Teleki heir and move the residents elsewhere.

Legal status

Nationalised 1945; a Teleki heir reportedly agreed with Mureș County Council on return of manor and park (reported as planned) ↗

History

The Teleki family settled in Glodeni in the 18th century; the estate was divided between two sons, who built manors in the lower and upper courts. The upper-court house was demolished in 1937. The surviving lower-court manor dates from 1872; Romanian Wikipedia credits Count Domokos Teleki, while Hungarian Wikipedia names Mihály Teleki. It was nationalised in 1945 and housed a children's home for Greek refugees, then from 1951 a hospital-home for elderly and disabled women. Romanian Wikipedia says an heir agreed with Mureș County Council that manor and park would be returned and the patients moved, but describes this as planned; Hungarian Wikipedia says a Teleki heir reclaimed it, without giving a date. The stone family arms on the pediment are noted as well preserved.
