History
The Bálintitt family acquired the Ernei estate by marriage in the early 19th century. The manor probably dates from the 18th century in late Baroque style and was remodelled in neo-Gothic style in the 19th century for Baron József Bálintitt (1851-1922), a poet, translator and parliamentary deputy. It once held a library of about 15,000 books and a family archive, and stood in a park with a lake and greenhouses. In 1946 the building was remodelled and its north wing demolished, leaving an L-shaped plan. After nationalisation it served as the village school from 1954. It was returned to the family after 1989 and today a kindergarten operates there. Only a few old trees and the silted pond remain of the park.
