About
Conace maps Romania's historic estates — manor houses and boyar courts, castles (royal residences such as Peleș excluded), cule and notable boyar palaces — from ruins to restored houses. The map has 837 properties; 430 have a full record with a source for every fact.
Where the data comes from
- The Romanian List of Historic Monuments (National Heritage Institute), via the Wikipedia lists and Wikidata.
- OpenStreetMap — positions and area estimates (marked "est.").
- Monumente Uitate (ARCHÉ) — unlisted manors, condition, photos (CC BY-NC).
- Wikimapia — approximate park outlines (marked "est.").
- Public property listings (Sotheby's International Realty Romania, storia.ro) and the press — prices and areas; listing texts are not copied.
Good to know
- The records were compiled largely automatically, by an AI assistant that searched and summarised public sources. A spot check found most facts match the cited source, but not all: expect some errors, wrong dates or mix-ups between buildings with similar names.
- Information is indicative; every fact links to its source — check it there.
- For-sale listings are snapshots from the date shown ("listing checked on"); the property may already be sold or re-priced.
- Living private individuals (owners, buyers) are not named.
- Dashed pins are approximate: the building's exact location is not known, the pin only shows the village.
- Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics: no cookies, and visitors are not identified.
