Summary

A 19th-century manor with a park in Lovrin (Timiș County), seat of the Lipthay de Kisfalud et Lubelle barons. The Lipthay family estates in the area were among the largest in the region.

History

General Antal Lipthay received the Kisősz (Gottlob) estate in 1792 and, according to Hungarian Wikipedia, had a castle built there. His son, Baron Frigyes Lipthay, planted tree-lined avenues and laid out an English-style garden in 1819. The monuments lists date the manor to the 19th century (one Romanian list gives 1820). Baron Frigyes Lipthay married Karolina Csekonics, who died in Lovrin in 1871, and the entomologist Béla Lipthay was born and died in the village (1865-1917). The Lipthay and Reitter estates were among the large holdings of the area.
