History
An earlier Naláczy manor of the mid-18th century stood here; in the mid-19th century the estate passed by marriage to the Teleki family. The present castle was probably built in the later 19th century by György Teleki and Ilona Kendeffy and surrounded by an arboretum. Their daughter Blanka married Viktor Fáy in 1888 and the Fáy couple held the estate in the early 20th century. The castle and park were nationalised in August 1948 and assigned for 50 years to an agricultural high school in Timișoara. It was abandoned from the late 1990s and looted of wiring, joinery and flooring. After a long lawsuit between the state and presumed heirs it returned to state ownership in 2022 and, in 2023, to the private domain of Hațeg. In 2024 the mayor said the town would seek EU funds to rehabilitate it.
