History
The manor was built in 1639-1640 by Stroe Leurdeanu and his wife Vișa of Golești as a fortified residence. The Golescu family lived there from the late 18th century into the early 20th; Dinicu Golescu reopened the free village school between 1826 and 1830, and his son Alexandru designed the park. In spring 1821 Tudor Vladimirescu was arrested at the watchtower. The state expropriated the property from the Golescu heirs under Law 296 of 7 June 1939, creating a museum named after Dinicu Golescu, now the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Pomiculture.
