History
Ion C. Brătianu inherited the Ștefănești land in 1844, where a boyar house is documented from 1829. From 1858 he enlarged it into a two-storey winegrower's house that grew into the present villa, named after his first daughter Florica, who died young. It was substantially rebuilt in 1905-1912 and again in 1924-1925, on plans developed with architect Petre Antonescu, in Romanian Revival style. The estate was nationalised in 1948. A cultural centre was set up in 1993 and administration passed to the Argeș County Council in 2003. The Brătianu heirs recovered ownership in 2013, and the Ministry of Culture bought the property from them in November 2017. The Brătianu National Museum was established by Law 15/2020 and opened that year.
