History
The manor was built between about 1807 and 1810 by Dinu Negruț, who received the Trifeștii Vechi estate as dowry on marrying Sofia Hermeziu. His son Costache Negruzzi (1808-1868), writer, was born and lived here, and later generations of the family, including Leon and Iacob Negruzzi, also lived or were born here. The house received princes Mihail Sturdza and Alexandru Ioan Cuza and many writers. In the communist period it housed the local agricultural cooperative. The Museum of Romanian Literature restored it in 1993-1995 and opened it as a memorial museum on 7 October 1995. In 2001 the family's descendants announced a donation of the manor to the museum.
