History

The palace was built around 1850 in neoclassical style for Grigore Sturdza, the younger son of Prince Mihail Sturdza. In 1919 Princess Olga Sturdza bought it for the Iași branch of the Romanian National Orthodox Women's Society, and it housed the Elena Odobescu Orthodox girls' school. During the communist period it was the seat of the Ștefan Gheorghiu party school. After 1990 it housed the regional TVR Iași studio and Radio Iași. The Metropolis of Moldavia and Bucovina regained the palace in 2004, began major renovation, and in 2019 opened a new school building.
