Summary
A large three-level boyar manor in the centre of Voinești, about 15 km from Iași, built by the Negruzzi family in 1830 beside their church. It originally had about 850 m² and 28 rooms (15 after restoration), and stands in a park of nearly three hectares.
History
The Negruzzi boyars built the manor in 1830; the estate had come to Ianachi Negruzzi's wife Zoe as a dowry around 1825, and the family church beside it dates from 1834. The house has a basement, ground floor and upper floor, walls nearly a metre thick and a street frontage of about 50 m. The family is linked to the writer Costache Negruzzi. After 1989 the manor and about three hectares of park passed into private ownership; the property passed to the banks in the late 1990s, was bought back in 1999 and then restored. It was offered for sale in 2008 for 1-1.3 million EUR, and in 2014 Cotidianul reported that the banks, which had repossessed it, were asking 300,000 EUR while the commune's mayor wanted to use it as the town hall. Its present ownership and use are not known.
