History
The Murgești (Nyárádszentbenedek) estate is first mentioned in 1332, and a manor house is recorded there in 1748. The present building is a 19th-century ground-floor house with a mansard roof and a columned porch, later extended into an L-shape. Castle in Transylvania credits Count Zsigmond Toldalagi II (1847-1894) as its builder, while Hungarian Wikipedia has Zsigmond Toldalagi and gives the 1890s for the present building. It was looted in the Second World War and, after nationalisation, housed the local state agricultural enterprise until the end of the 20th century. After 1989 a Belgian partner town bought it, and it now belongs to a village foundation. Its exterior renovation was completed in August 2020.
