Summary

A Baroque manor house in Păsăreni (Mureș County), probably built in the first half of the 19th century for the Petrichevich-Horváth family. The village bought it in 1925 and it has served as the town hall ever since.

History

The first known owner is Albert Petrichevich-Horváth (1800-1874), an imperial dignitary who probably received the estate through his 1826 marriage to Baroness Zsuzsa Szentkereszti. A smaller residence already stood on the site in the Josephine survey. The present house, with an overhanging porch on three Tuscan columns and two arched entrances, was probably built in the first half of the 19th century. It later passed to László Sándor, and in 1925 the local community bought it. A Roman Catholic church built beside it in 1910 served as the castle chapel. The mansion is the seat of the town hall, with two annexes used as a family doctor's surgery.
