History
The Barcianu line in Rășinari goes back to the teacher and protopope Coman Bîrsan, who settled there in 1721. His descendant Sava Popovici Barcianu (1814-1879), a teacher at the Sibiu theological seminary and corresponding member of the Romanian Academy from 1869, adopted the Barcianu name. The house was started around 1835 with a ground floor and wooden attic; a 2026 Sibiul în Imagini article, quoting Corneliu Lubinschi, says it was completed around 1850. Around 1920 his grandsons rebuilt it into the form it largely keeps today. The monument address is Str. Barcianu Daniel 248 and the LMI entry includes the manor and the enclosure wall.
