History
According to researcher Florin Dîrdală, cited by a Vrancea regional heritage site, the house was built around 1900 and already stood in 1906. It was a family home of the writer Duiliu Zamfirescu, who is said to have written part of his work there, and his stepsister had a painting studio in it. After nationalisation it served as a wine-growing farm, then as housing for vineyard workers and later as a shelter for homeless people. After 1989 the property went to Zamfirescu's heirs, who did not restore it. In 2018 the county Directorate for Culture began an emergency procedure to list it as a historic monument. In February 2019 Vrancea County Council gave its agreement in principle to buy the house for a memorial house open to visitors; a 2020 article reports that nothing had been heard of either step since.
