History
The manor in Zăuan is listed as a 19th-century monument and is linked to the Egri (Ács de Zovány) and Bánffy de Losoncz families by Monumente Uitate. Its last owner was János Viski, a violinist and composer who headed the composition department of the Budapest Academy of Music from 1942 until his death in 1961. According to a 2015 Adevărul report, the last descendants of the Hungarian noble family left no heirs, nobody claimed the property and it became municipal property. After years of deterioration the building was rehabilitated from the foundations and connected to utilities, at a cost of about 700,000 lei from government funds and the local budget, with a further 500,000 lei from the Environmental Fund Administration going to rebuilding the park. The town hall fitted out a medical cabinet and a service flat for a family doctor, though in 2015 no doctor had yet applied for the post.
