History

Ozd is first mentioned in 1332, and the Radák family became landowners here in the 17th century. In 1695 István Radák mortgaged the estate to Lőrinc Pekry, who lived here with his wife Kata Szidónia Petrőczy. Imperial troops besieged and burned the castle in 1709, and it was restored around 1725-1732. The male Radák line ended in 1897, and the last owners were Countess Ilona Teleki and her husband, Baron Johann Konrad von Konradsheim. After 1945 the castle housed a kindergarten, a school, a cultural hall and a cooperative office, then stood abandoned from the 1960s. The state leased it to the Bonus Pastor Foundation in 1997, and Ilona Teleki's daughter donated it to the foundation in 2004. The foundation put on a new roof in 1998-2001, conserved some wall paintings, and restored the granary in 2003-2005.
