Summary

A 19th-century eclectic castle in Gheja, part of Luduș town (Mureș County), with hexagonal corner towers. After nationalisation it was used by a collective farm and later became a psychiatry department of the local hospital.

History

The Bánffy family acquired the Gheja estate in the early 19th century and the castle was built in that period, in an eclectic style with neo-Baroque features. Baron Zoltán Bánffy is named among its owners. The original façade had columns with an open terrace on the upper level, later walled in. The building served a collective farm and then a psychiatry department attached to the Luduș hospital.
