Returned to the family's last heir (Bethlen Berta, d. 2014); later held by a Kornis heir ↗
History
The main building was erected by Kristóf Keresztúri between 1573 and 1593. The estate became Kornis property around 1673; Gáspár Kornis added a second floor and Zsigmond Kornis renovated it in 1680 and added two bastions and restored the entrance tower in 1720. In the early 1900s it housed a natural-history museum and a library of about 9,000 volumes. The collections were destroyed or stolen after nationalisation. State restoration work in 1975-76 was abandoned. The castle was returned to the last heir, Bethlen Berta, who died in 2014 without restoring it. In 2017 a Kornis heir said he would not sell and hoped for Hungarian government funding.
