History

The Haller family acquired Ogra in 1610 through the marriage of István Haller to Judit Kendi,. A noble residence stood here in the 17th century, and the present building was probably remodelled around 1800. The Haller family kept it until nationalisation in 1949, after which it housed in turn a bakery, a medical office, stores, a school and a boarding house, and was looted during the war. In the early 2000s it was returned to a Haller heir, who sold it in 2007 to a private couple. It was then restored and opened in 2011 as what is described as the first castle hotel in Transylvania.
