History

The building, in Classicist and Empire styles, dates from 1775-1830; a columned portico and gable were added to the main facade in 1870. At the end of the 19th century an octagonal Baroque tower in the park held about 6,000 volumes and rare manuscripts from the Apor archive, which later vanished with the tower. The last named owner is István Apor XIII. After 1945 the castle became state property and served as a shop, inn, school, kindergarten and community centre.
