History

Samuel von Brukenthal was born in Nocrich in 1721; his father Michael Brekner had been ennobled in 1724 as von Brukenthal. Press reports date the house to around 1700. Over the decades it reportedly housed a bakery, a radio and television repair shop, a general store and a pub. After nationalisation under communism contact with the family's heirs was lost, and after 1989 the house passed into private hands. It was reported for sale in late 2024 at 599,000 EUR, and in January 2025 at about 575,000 EUR. Reports describe it as unrestored but retaining original joinery and frescoes.
