Summary
An 18th-century building at 2 George Barițiu Street in Deva, listed as a historic monument and described by Hungarian Wikipedia as one of the town's oldest. Since 2007 it has housed the Hunedoara Youth Directorate.
History
According to Hungarian Wikipedia, after the Deva fortress lost its military role in 1800 its owner Franciska Pogány auctioned the movable goods, and tradition says she used the proceeds to build Parva Curia and open a school there. After the 1867 Compromise it housed the seat of Hunyad County, then a military hospital and, from 1870, the Deva teacher-training college. The County School Inspectorate used it before the Youth Directorate moved in 2007. The construction story is tradition, and the heritage list dates the building to the 18th century.
