History
The manor in Bârcea Mică (Hungarian Kisbarcsa) is dated to the 18th century in the monuments list. A 2017 local news article reports an inscription on the upper floor dating the building to 1677, links it to the Barcsay family, and describes a plain three-level building (vaulted cellar, ground floor, upper floor) with 80 cm thick stone and brick walls. According to that article, villagers devastated it in 1918 and, after nationalisation, the ground floor housed a classroom and cultural hall and a village shop operated there until the 1990s. In 2017 the article described advanced deterioration and several years of abandonment. The property was handed to the Drăgan Muntean Cultural Centre for administration under council decision (HCL) 456/2018. In June 2023 the Deva council approved the documentation for restoring it as a centre for folk traditions and village life, with an estimated cost of about 16.0 million lei including VAT.
