History
Dumitru Marinescu Bragadiru, founder of a major brewery, commissioned the building as a recreation venue for the brewery's workers. Austrian architect Anton Schuckerl designed it; Wikipedia gives construction in 1894-1898, while sale press says it was largely finished around 1905. It held a ballroom usable as theatre or concert hall, a library, a bowling alley and shops. Nationalised in 1948, it became the Lenin House of Culture until 1989. Bragadiru's descendants regained it in 2003 under the restitution law. In 2022 the complex was listed at about 26 million EUR, adjusted to about 25 million in 2024; the building alone was quoted at 12.5 million EUR.
