Summary

A boyar court of 1840-1842 in Cătina village, Florești commune (Prahova County), built by the Mavros family and later held by the Cantacuzino family. The manor, with its park, Catholic chapel and water tower, now houses a neuro-psychiatric recovery and rehabilitation centre.

History

The estate was created by the Mavros family; a local source credits General Nicolae Mavros with the mansion and a Roman Catholic chapel built in 1840-1842. His daughter Maria married Ioan C. Cantacuzino, and their son was the physician Ion Cantacuzino, founder of the Cantacuzino Institute. The listed ensemble includes the manor, a Catholic chapel, a water tower, the park and the funerary monument of Maria Șuțu, a statue group by Mark Antokolski. The manor now serves as a neuro-psychiatric hospital.
