Summary

A late 18th-century tower house (cula) at Câmpu Mare in Dobroteasa commune, Olt County. Built of stone and brick for a local aga, it is a listed monument and, per Monumente Uitate, serves an administrative function.

History

Construction began in 1790 and ended around 1800, commissioned by the aga Alexandru Vlangalis. The building is square in plan, with a shingle roof and a chimney passing through one roof slope. It has two upper floors of two rooms each, reached from the ground floor by a wooden staircase, and a horizontal band separating the ground floor from the upper levels. During the 1907 peasants' revolt part of the tower was set on fire. It was later restored to its present form.
