History
The culă was built in the first half of the 19th century for the Călățeanu boyar family, one of whom served as a standard-bearer in Tudor Vladimirescu's army. It stands in the former village of Enoșești, now part of Piatra Olt, close to the DN64 road between Caracal and Râmnicu Vâlcea and near the former Roman fort of Acidava. According to local press, the estate once covered about 300 hectares of arable land and 150 of forest and later belonged to the boyaress Miteasca. Local press reports that it was destroyed in the 1907 uprising and rebuilt with two levels instead of four. A defensive wall survives in good condition on the north and west sides, with a brick entrance arch. The building has a rectangular plan with a large vaulted cellar. The Ion Marian Association carried out consolidation and restoration in a project financed from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with a total value reported as 8,371,217.47 lei, of which 5,162,106.96 lei is EU funding. The building has been on the national heritage list since 2004.
