Summary

A neo-Romanian manor in Olari (Pârșcoveni, Olt County) in its present form from 1920-1935, linked to the Craiova banker Constantin C. Neamțu. Owned since 2016 by the Pro Patrimonio Foundation, it is being conserved step by step after long neglect and vandalism.

Legal status

Restituted to the son, donated to UAR 2005, donation revoked 2016, donated to Pro Patrimonio 2016 ↗

History

The estate belonged to the Pârșcoveanu and later Zissi families, and in 1911 the Craiova city hall auctioned the house and half the estate, which Constantin C. Neamțu bought. Pro Patrimonio dates the present form to 1920-1935 and credits architect Constantin Iotzu, a follower of Ion Mincu. The Communist regime nationalised it in 1948, after which it served as an agricultural machinery station, a kindergarten and a first-aid post. After 1989 the son regained it and in 2005 donated it to the Romanian Architects' Union (UAR) on condition of restoration. The donation was revoked in 2016 for non-fulfilment, and the same year Pro Patrimonio received it by private donation. Since 2017 it has seen workshops and conservation works.
