History
Lajos Zsombory and his wife Mária Kozma built the manor in 1892 on the site of an older house. According to local tradition recorded on Wikipedia, he lost it at cards in the early 1900s to a finance minister named Săulescu, whose family kept it until after World War II. The state then nationalised it and gave it to the health ministry; it served as a hospital-sanatorium, then a commune dispensary, and for some years housed the town hall. On 10 August 2005 the Zimbor local council sold it at auction to buyers described as Romanians living in Australia, for 9.6 billion old lei. It has 14 rooms, a cellar and outbuildings, and a park of about 0.18 ha, part of which became the village park.
