History

The national list of historic monuments dates the manor to the 19th century. According to a regional article, it was built at the end of the 19th century as the residence of the Boicescu boyar family, who were large landowners in Oltenia, and combined traditional Romanian architecture with Western influences. Historia.ro says the manor was added in the 20th century and designed to harmonise with the neighbouring Cula Zătreanu, which was built in 1754 by Radu Zătreanu according to tradition. After the post-war nationalisation the manor served various administrative purposes. Another local site says the Boicescu estate grew from a leaseholder who took over much of the Zătreni lands.
