Summary

A manor ensemble in Pribești (Codăești commune, Vaslui County), including the church of the Nativity of the Mother of God. The estate was acquired by Iordache Ruset in 1691 and later belonged to the Rosetti and Balș families.

History

The ensemble began in 1691 when Iordache Ruset bought the Pribești estate, which for about two centuries belonged to the Rosetti and Balș families. The main house reflects Moldavian civic architecture of the 16th-17th centuries and keeps its original cellar, vaulted rooms and a gazebo (foișor). The complex also has the church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, farm outbuildings and a fountain. The 1907 peasant revolt is part of the estate's story. After expropriation and nationalisation the manor served several public functions, and since 1991 it has been in the custody of the National Heritage Institute. Wikipedia's commune article describes it as under restoration.
