Summary
A 19th-century manor on a small hill in Răducăneni (Iași County), tied to the Rosetti family and later to the Catargiu family. It is a ruin, damaged by a 2012 fire, and the National Heritage Institute has repeatedly tendered its restoration.
History
Târgu Răducăneni was founded in 1830 by Hatman Răducanu Roset. The manor is described as built in the mid-19th century by Lascăr Rosetti, a minister in the government of Vasile Sturdza. In 1893 the estate belonged to the wife of General Gheorghe Catargiu, who had his manor and garden in the town. The building later housed a psychiatric hospital. A fire in 2012 brought down walls, most floors and much of the roof. The National Heritage Institute planned a restoration to create a children's activity centre, but tenders in 2024, including a fourth round in September, drew no bids and were cancelled.
