Summary
A ruined manor of the Rónay family on an estate between Șag and Utvin in Timiș County. Under communism it housed a state farm, an office and a primary school; after the farm closed it was abandoned and the roofs collapsed.
History
The Rónay family, a baronial family ennobled in 1714, held the estate; Hungarian Wikipedia's article on Ötvény (Utvin) places a manor house on the Szentmárialiget estate, built in 1896 by Ákos Kovács on land earlier owned by Miklós Oláh. Mihály Rónay bought the estate in 1904 together with some 550 holds of land. The house was known for a library of about 4,000 volumes. After nationalisation the building served the state farm (IAS) and held its offices and a school for grades I-IV. Once the farm was dissolved the manor was abandoned and is now reduced to wall fragments overgrown by vegetation.
