Expropriated 1948; Prefecture ordered return to heirs in June 2008; heirs fined for neglect ↗
History
The estate is linked to the family of Ștefan Catargiu (1789-1866), grand logothete and caimacam of Moldavia, who built the Sf. Voievozi church here in 1811. The one-storey manor dates from the 18th century and was modified in 1842, within a roughly 10,400 m2 complex with outbuildings and an enclosure wall with corner towers. The communist state expropriated it in 1948 and it became a cooperative headquarters. After 1989 the town hall administered it while its status was unclear, and heirs of General Strâmbeanu claimed it under Law 18/1990. In 2008 the Prefecture ordered the manor and 35 ha returned to them. In 2009 a presidential commission described it as abandoned and close to disappearing; the heirs asked for delisting, and they were fined for neglect. No restoration is known.
