Summary

A ruined manor in Strejeștii de Sus (Strejești commune, Olt County), listed as a historic monument (category B) with an LMI dating of 1830, beside the Sf. Voievozi church. Local press describes it as built by the Darvari family, who followed the Buzescu family on the estate, and as reduced to its outer walls by 2018.

Legal status

Returned to the family heirs in 2011 with about nine hectares of land; listed historic monument ↗

History

The LMI list dates the manor to 1830, while a 2018 press article places its construction around the middle of the 19th century and credits the Darvari family, who followed the Buzescu family in the village. Mihail Darvari married Elena, from the last Buzescu line. The Darvari descendants lived in the manor until 1948; under communism it housed the agricultural cooperative headquarters and later a kindergarten. According to a 2018 article it was returned in 2011 to the family heirs together with about nine hectares of land. It was intact in 2000, but thefts and weather have since left only the walls, and the heirs' restoration project was abandoned because of its cost.
