History
József Balási III (1778-1855), a judge who rose to chief royal judge of Csíkszék, had the manor built in 1833, as chimney inscriptions show. His youngest son Lajos (1826-1898) inherited it and, dying childless, the estate was divided among relatives. The family archives were destroyed between the wars and in the fighting of 1 September 1944, and the building was damaged. It was restored in the 1970s and later renovated by its tenants. József Balási VII (1915-2004) donated the castle to the Transylvanian Roman Catholic Archdiocese before his death. The Saint Francis Foundation now leases it for 30 years and runs a children's home.
