Conacul Anghel Capră
sat Mavrodin; comuna Mavrodin, Teleorman · În curtea fostului I. A. S.
Listed as accessible by Monumente Uitate
Summary
A manor dated to 1890 in the village of Mavrodin (Teleorman County), in the courtyard of the former state agricultural enterprise (IAS). Monumente Uitate records it as having served as a store for the IAS.
History
The manor is listed as a historic monument under code TR-II-m-B-14356 and dated to 1890, and is named after Anghel Capră. A local newspaper reports the date 1890 on its frontispiece, together with the initials BFN, which it reads as those of Baron Feodor Nicolici, heir to the Mavrodin estate in 1868-1908. The estate had earlier belonged to the Obrenović princes of Serbia. It was bought in 1909 by Cristea Capră, who enlarged the house and ran a large farm with livestock and a well-regarded vineyard. The Capră holding was taken over by the communist state in 1949, and the manor now stands in the yard of the former state farm (IAS); Monumente Uitate gives its function as an IAS store.
