Summary
'Curtea lui Socol' is the site of the boyar court of Socol Cornățeanu in the former village of Răzvadu de Sus (Răzvad commune, Dâmbovița County), listed as a category I monument and dated to the 16th-18th centuries. According to the commune website, the foundations of his house are preserved.
History
The heritage list records the site as 'Curtea lui Socol', coded as a site (DB-I-s-B-17129, RAN 65440.02) in the former village of Răzvadu de Sus, about 0.5 km from the church and beside the Răzvad-Gorgota commune road, dated to the 16th-18th centuries. According to the Răzvad commune website, Socol Cornățeanu, cupbearer of Cornățeni, became the main landowner at Răzvad around 1591-1592, built a new church and a new house whose foundations are preserved, and raised a cross at Răzvadu de Sus in 1648. It describes him as a son-in-law of Michael the Brave and says rebellious servants killed him in 1653. The same list records the cross of Socol Cornățeanu as a separate monument dated 1646, standing in a private courtyard. Răzvadu de Sus and Răzvadu de Jos were merged into the single village of Răzvad in 1968.
