History

The Băleni court dates from the 17th-18th centuries (late medieval, according to the national archaeological repertoire) and belonged to the boyar family of the Băleanu. The Repertoriul Arheologic Național describes it as lying in the centre of the village, about 40 m from the road. Of the old manor only the brick cellar survives: it is narrow, with walls 1.2 m thick and cylindrical vaults reinforced with arches. The enclosure wall, built of thin brick and stone, has its gate facing the road. The heritage list also records the foundations of the court church. The commune's Wikipedia article mentions the walls of the Băleanu family court among local sights.
