Summary
A manor in Catalina (Szentkatolna), Covasna County, dated 1649 with alterations in 1820 in the monument list. It grew from a stone house built by Tamás Basa and later belonged to the Kún, Klébersberg and Sinkovits families.
History
According to the Szentkatolna commune website, the Basa family acquired the estate from the Cseh family in the 16th century and Tamás Basa built a stone house that villagers called the "Turkish church". By the late 17th century the estate belonged to his daughter Ilona and her husband István Kún. After Count József Kún died without a male heir, it passed to the Klébersberg family and then to Dr. Ignác Sinkovits, a military doctor, and his wife. Their son Ottó Sinkovits modernised the building around the turn of the 20th century and set up a model farm in the village. After the Second World War the estate became the headquarters of the local agricultural cooperative, which led to the decline of the building and grounds. castleintransylvania.ro lists the manor as private property today. The monument list dates it to 1649 with alterations in 1820; Virtualis Székelyföld gives 1640 for Tamás Basa's house, and Hungarian Wikipedia gives the early 19th century and Empire style.
