History
The mansion was built from 1872 to 1888 by the Casota family (Procopie Casota) in a style inspired by Loire Valley castles, with a tall central tower, wrought-iron balustrades and running water from the start. Wikipedia says it was donated to the Civil Hospitals Board in 1905 so its income could fund a school and a hospital; the hospital was destroyed in the First World War. Under communism it housed an agricultural cooperative. From 1989 it was run by Buzău County Council, which moved it into the county's private property in 2003; many fittings were stolen. It was sold at public auction on 2 November 2006 to a foreign private individual, whose costly restoration stopped for lack of funds.
