Summary
A manor in Galtiu (Hungarian Gáldtő), a village in Sântimbru commune, Alba County, on the left bank of the Mureș. The village was the seat of the noble Gáldtői family and the birthplace of Count Lajos Bethlen.
History
Gáldtő is first mentioned in 1329 and 1333, when it belonged to the Gáldi nobles; later owners were the Gáldtői family and their descendants. Count Lajos Bethlen, a memoirist, was born in the village in 1782. By 1910 the village had 512 inhabitants, mostly Romanian. The manor's builders and later fate are not known.
