History

The manor was given its Classicist form in 1831 on the foundations of an earlier Renaissance building; the LMI dates the ensemble to the 17th century with a reference date of 1831. After nationalisation began in 1949 it was used as a granary, a maternity clinic, housing for temporary workers and a pig farm, and decayed. In 1937 the teacher Haszmann Pál had already proposed restoring it as a folk museum. The building was renovated in 1993-1994 and the museum, built on Haszmann's collection continued by his sons, now operates there under the Covasna County Council. The courtyard holds relocated village houses, gates, funerary markers and a large collection of agricultural machinery.
