Summary
A historic manor in the centre of Breaza, Prahova County, associated with the Cantacuzino, Brâncoveanu and Bibescu families and standing in the Brâncoveanu Park. The Breaza town hall acquired the monument and about 2.3 ha of land in January 2022.
History
The manor is described as built in the 17th century by the spătar Toma Cantacuzino with local craftsmen. After 1892 the property belonged to Grigore Basarab Brâncoveanu. Martha Bibescu and Anne de Noailles (née Brâncoveanu) lived there for a time. The building was later altered and converted into a hotel. The Brâncoveanu Park, about 6 ha in 1999, was classified a strict-protection area for its old trees, although press reports in 2008 noted that half of it had been lost. On 9 January 2022 the town hall acquired the castle and 23,395 m² of land.
