Summary
A former mountain residence of the Bibescu family at Posada, Comarnic commune, Prahova County, built before 1848 for Prince Gheorghe Bibescu. The Hunting Museum of the Carpathian Mountains, run by the state forestry administration Romsilva, is now based at Posada.
History
The castle began as a mountain manor ordered by Prince Gheorghe Bibescu before the 1848 revolution, and was substantially extended by his nephew. It was partly destroyed during the First World War and restored between the wars as a princely residence. After the Second World War the family left the country. The Hunting Museum of the Carpathian Mountains opened at Posada on 26 November 1996 as a department of the Peleș National Museum; it later passed to Romsilva, was renovated and reopened on 25 April 2004.
