Summary
The Poenaru manor in Valea lui Pătru, Scăești commune, Dolj County, an eclectic building with mainly neoclassical influences. Press reports from 2014 and 2020 describe it as badly deteriorated.
History
The manor is associated with the Poenaru family, minor boyars of Oltenia. According to a 2014 Gazeta de Sud article, Constantin C. Poenaru married Aurora Câncea, whose father Nicolae Câncea managed the estate, and an 1888 letter from him shows that the building already existed by then. The article describes the interior as devastated by vandals, with fallen plaster, a largely missing wooden staircase and missing stoves. In 2020 the manor was offered for sale through Artmark Historical Estate at 80,000 euro, reduced from 100,000, and the sale announcement gives the courtyard as almost 4,000 square metres.
