According to the regional daily Gazeta de Sud (2014), it was a manor of the Catargi family; it was nationalised and later returned to the family, and the town hall used it for a time with the heirs' permission. The house is called the Henri Catargi memorial house, but in 2014 it stood empty and padlocked, while the painter's belongings were kept in a storeroom at the town hall.
