Summary

A Baroque castle in Livada (Satu Mare County), built in 1760-1764 by General István Vécsey. The heritage list records it as a school camp, and its former park, once about 81 ha, has been largely built over.

History

General István Vécsey had the castle built between 1760 and 1764 at Sárköz (today Livada). It originally had two floors; a fire in 1823 destroyed the upper floor and the rebuilt castle remained single-storey. In recent decades various institutions have operated in the park, and houses built there have removed much of its historic character. The heritage list names it a castle used today as a school camp.
