History

The Thoroczkay family, whose roots go back to the 13th century, was tied to the nearby fortress. Sándor Thoroczkay the Elder built this manor in 1836, and it was enlarged in the later 19th century. After nationalisation it was used by the collective farm and, from the late 1960s until 1992, as a sanatorium for children with disabilities. The Rudnyánszky family regained it in 1996 and sold it in 1998 to the Unitarian Bishopric of Cluj. A restoration funded by the national recovery plan ran from 2021 to 2026, with the fortress ruins conserved at the same time, and the manor was inaugurated in July 2026.
