Summary

A neoclassical (Empire-style) manor built around 1810-1820 in Tamașfalău, Zăbala commune, Covasna County, about 15 km from Târgu Secuiesc. It later became a cultural centre and is described as a listed monument in need of restoration.

History

The village takes its name from the Tamásfalvi family, who were granted the land after fighting the Turks in 1515. After that family died out the estate passed to the Thúry family, and in 1865 to the Bányai family. The present two-storey building dates from about 1810-1820. In 1973 it was converted into a cultural centre, and the stage and auditorium added then reduced its architectural value. A regional tourism article lists it among Covasna County monuments that need help, while noting it is open to the public.
